In the 1940's and 50's there were many "nameless” ceramic facilities in Mexico making Disney ceramics. The ceramics were supposedly licensed through the Evan K. Shaw Company as some examples have been seen with Shaw paper labels.
The CERAMICA de CUERNAVACA COMPANY (Cuenavaca, Mexico) became an Official Disney Licensee in the 1960's. Cuernavaca produced some great Disney characters in the shapes of Wall Masks, Banks and Cookie Jars.
You are bidding on a great Ceramic Sailor Donald Duck Wall Mask made by the CERAMICA de CUERNAVACA COMPANY. There are no cracks or breaks on this ceramic piece. There are six very small "glaze pops” on the top rim of Donald’s Sailor Hat that at some time there was an attempt to cover them with paint or nail polish. As you look at the photographs (unless you look very closely) are not easily noticed. There is virtually no crazing on this fine piece.
The markings on the back of this Sailor Donald Wall Mask read: “WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS DERECHOS RESERVADOS” and “CERAMICA DE CUERNAVACA MEXICO”
